The Martin sounded better, but it's not really a fair comparison. One is a vintage guitar with the wood opened wide up after being played in, and the other is a brand new guitar. I'll wager that's why the Eastman sounded a little compressed

I have found that any and all tweaking guys do to guitar amps can be duplicated with an equalizer in the effects loop. Once I figured that out, my life got a lot simpler.

I am on my way to pick up a very rare old standard/Eastman E 20 D. It is by far the best sounding rig in the shop. I’ve played several martens in the five to $8000 price range that did not sound as nice as this very unique guitar. Old standard supplies mini boutique companies with their wood, companies like Santa Cruz that produce guitars over $40,000. I am very fortunate to have stumbled upon this little Jesse.

Ok. First: the sound changes between on and off. Second: on the clean tone you explain it. There is a huge hum when off. When you make the "A B TEST) the humor disappears even with the system off. This does not make any sense.

It may just be me, but I think the el34s sound a bit brighter than the 6l6s. Other than that, I think it makes no difference if using them in the same amp. The power amp, and preamp, of a factory engineered amplifier are designed to sound the same way, no matter what tubes you use. That should be the main thing to focus on. The speaker cab, and the tone of the preamp. That's what makes the difference.

Don, I have a multi- watt with a Gibson LP 81/85. I play Zakk to Dream Theater. Do you have any possible settings ( front & back) that may help on my quest to truly dial this in? Do you recommend an EQ or OD with this amp? Thx

both of these amps have so many tonal variations, its very difficult to cover it all in less than 5 minutes.

lol, these amps are all for different purposes so the answer really is what type of music are you wanting to play, duh.

6L6! I prefer the frequency response and feel much more than EL34. EL34 can get harsh so quickly. Not to mention, the 6L6 is a more reliable tube. Can take a bit more abuse than the EL34.

Some people just can't play heavy riffs. They just don't understand and are too stuck in the rock n roll and.blues territory.
